We would like to share our second case study of Perfect Pearls and Pigments, an independent family run business. They are a supplier of premium quality powdered pigments for use in automotive paints, removeable dip coatings, cosmetics, arts and crafts, industry and much more, operating from their base in North Essex.
Firstly, we’d like to say what a privilege it is to work with such a hardworking, innovative business owner.
At Ellacott Morris we don’t want to just be your accountant. We want to be an integral part of your business journey, helping you to achieve your goals by providing the best financial guidance. We’re as excited by our clients’ successes as they are!
Previously, Perfect Pearls and Pigments got fed up with their previous accountants due to a lack of communication and working too closely to filing deadlines, which was frustrating and stressful.
We took control of the financial side of the business, implementing Xero and the integrations needed to manage such a high transactional volume online retailer. Streamlining where possible we have created slick processes and now manage the bookkeeping and accounts weekly which keeps the data available as current as possible. This allows Jamie, the business owner to be able to use the information in Xero to make business decisions.
It was using Xero that led us to the incorporation of the business as we could really see how well he was doing and that the benefits to incorporation were really going to help his business growth.
We currently manage the following aspects of their business:
* Weekly bookkeeping
* Quarterly VAT returns
* Monthly payroll
* Annual accounts
* Corporation tax return
* Personal tax return
* Tax planning and advice
* General advice on Xero and systems
But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Jamie Sharpe, business owner of Perfect Pearls and Pigments shared with us…
How did you find out about our services?
Through a friend, Alan Marshall, after getting totally fed up of our previous accountant.
Can you explain how our service differs to other accountants you may have used in the past?
Communication, communication, communication! I can’t stress enough how important this is for me and I expect other small businesses. The help over the initial lockdown was key to making it through the way we did. Our previous accountants simply didn’t bother to communicate, didn’t pick up major issues in our figures and generally seemed happy to run us into the ground.
You have also provided great advice/information as I have needed it making sure our accounts are correct, on time and stress free.
How do you think Ellacott Morris has helped your business?
With you being on top of our accounts, we have been able to work through any external issues and kept the business on the right path. We have had record turnover whilst in your hands which of course has finally led to a large increase in my take home income.
What’s the biggest challenge your business has faced in the last 12 months?
We got extremely lucky with Covid-19 and in part the fact I was able to persuade 2 of our suppliers to stay open allowing us to continue trading. If I’m honest, the biggest challenge was being able to cope with the increase in sales but everything else thankfully fell into place.
